Still Small Voice

Remember the story of God speaking to Elijah in 1 Kings 19? It teaches us about hearing from
the Lord. A powerful wind passes, an earthquake follows, and a fire after that. In all these things
the Lord does not speak. Then as Elijah stands there on the mountain, God speaks in a "still
small voice".

I just studied this passage in the original Hebrew. The word "still" more literally translates, "silent".
This got me thinking about something I learned from A.W. Tozer:

"It is the nature of God to speak, to communicate his thoughts to others... God is speaking.
Not God spoke, but GOD IS SPEAKING. He is by his nature, continuously articulate."

Are we tuned in to hear? We might be listening... but are we listening correctly?
Are we listening for him in a raging fire? a violent wind? an earthquake? We will miss
him. He is speaking... right now in this moment. How will we hear what is silent?...
Not with human ears brothers. Let us make sure the ears of our hearts are listening.
"He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" (Matt. 11:15)
